The Charleston Police Department reports that someone opened fire in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, on Sunday, injuring five individuals.

Five people were hurt and taken to local hospitals for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police in Charleston say the shooting happened at 12:55 a.m. near the corner of King and Morris streets.

Trayvon Davis, 20, and an unnamed 16-year-old were detained in connection with the incident.

Police said in a press release that both of them have been charged with gun crimes.

A sixth person was thought to have been harmed by gunfire, but they hurt themselves when they collapsed.
