Liz Truss Defeated Rishi Sunak To Become UK PM

Liz Truss will be the next UK Prime Minister, replacing Boris Johnson and defeating Rishi Sunak.

Truss's win was just announced in Parliament, and she will start her job officially tomorrow.

Johnson, who resigned in disgrace in July after scandals, will see the Queen at Balmoral.

Former Foreign and Trade Secretary won comfortably. 81,000 Conservatives voted for her (57%)

Even though less MPs nominated him than Sunak and she started the race far behind him

During the eight-week run-off, she has been the favorite for most of the time.

Truss is the third female UK PM, after Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May.

She assumes the post as energy bills skyrocket and the economy nears recession.
